Fracture in Foot/chipped bone

I frqactured the bone by the bunion area this past June. I have been having constant pain in the ball of the foot, and in the arch area, since then. Till about a month ago, I was also getting a feeling that felt like electric going through the foot, in the area of the fracture.

I recently went for a second opinion, to find out why I was still in pain. The x-rays showed that there was a chip in the bone. Is is common for a bone in the foot to be chipped 6 months after a fracture? What exactly does it mean , if the bone is chipped? It was suggested I wait another month, and see if the bone is healing more. IF not, the doctor, suggested that I go for an MRI or CAT scan to see if there is something else going on.

What do you think? Does this sound like a good idea? It is now a month later, and the pain has not let up. I am able to get around, and do my daily activities, but I am in constant pain. The pain also wakes me up when I sleep, and change my sleeping position.

I was quite shocked to hear the doctor tell me there was a chip in the bone, after 6 months.

Thanks in advance for you advice/feedback/suggestions.
