Haglunds deformity and Planter Fascitis.

I have Planter fascitis on my right heel, but have the Haglunds deformity on the left and right. Only the left is symptomatic. Over the past year the left heel has been injected with cortisone with some relief but it always comes back. I was referred to another Dr. and he placed me in a walking cast for 3 weeks. I work on my feet all day in a Dr's office and having the cast is as bad as the pain itself plus the cast has not releived the pain I had to begin with.I have only had it on for one week, but at this point I do not think it has helped. Is there any reason other than Dr.s preference, why I could not wear a walking boot during the day when I'm up then take it off to ice it down at night. Would my results be any different or am I better off to suffer with the cast for 2 more weeks?
