Re: Toenail removal re: fungus

: I have pretty pervasive toenail fungus in both my big toenails. I've researched the prescription alternatives and have used Penlac, but I think I'd rather just have them permanently removed. I spend a lot of time in water, and I don't want to deal with recurrence. My insurance company says that's elective surgery & will only pay for the prescriptions. I don't have the patience for the medication cycles & not thrilled with success rates.

: So, what would your office typically charge for permanent removal of both big toenails? I ready to have this finished, & I don't care about the post-surgical cosmetics of my feet. Thanks in advance...

: Josh

Hi Josh, do your toenails hurt you? Usually pain would be criteria for your insurance to pay.

That being said, the usual charge in this area is $300 - 400 for each nail. In our office, we give a 50% discount for the second nail if done on the same day.

Good luck
