Swelling of top of left foot

I was diagnosed as having tendonitis in my left foot about 2 yrs ago. Was treated and discharged after wearing a soft cast and boots for about 2 mos. However, the swelling never totally subsided. Had full physical that was normal. I'm 35 y/o woman. Since then I've always noticed an extremely scant-looking red (very thin, even the podiatrist didn't notice, but I always yave) line running from between my 3d and 4th toes toward my ankle, about 1 inch long. Can see better some days than others, and this is the very place that stays swollen and has a small dimple there. Swelling is noticeable but you have to look closely, so it's not grotesque, but it is uncomfortable when it's the end of the day, and in the morning it's never 100% back to normal. I gave up on the MD's because they told me I was progressing OK and that the swelling should subside, but it never did.

Any thoughts on what I can tell them to look for next time I go to Dr's office?
