Itching is not very well understood and the causes can be varied. There are some topical things one may try but failing that I think you might see a neurologist.

There are topical numbing agents such as Lidocaine, Benzocaine, Pramoxine (used in some hemorrhoid creams)alos try a topical anti-inflammatory medication such as Biofreeze, Icy-Hot Sports cream. Then there are the topical capsaicin compounds, such as Zostrix (which is also used for Diabetic neuropathy and pain after Shingles resolves)

You can certainly try some of these and if they don't work then see a neurologist.
