Ankle Fracture Recovery (Weber A) Time

Hello. I am a marathon runner. After completeing the Boston Marathon I hit the road on Saturday for a nice long run---until I stepped on a rock, rolled my ankle and suffered a Weber A fracture. (Left ankle looking down--on the outside.) After running several mile (back to my car) I went to the Emergency room at UCLA and was put in a plaster splint and told to see an orthopedist in 5 to 7 days. The doctor told me it should take 6 weeks to heal.

However, I'd like to know what "phases" I can expect?

The pain is not bad at all. However, since I live (by myself) on the 4th floor (stairs) and have to climb 124 more stairs just to get from the UCLA parking lot to my 1st class ( which is 1/4 mile away from the parking lot)---this "crutchs thing" is not making me happyr. [I'm a senior and I need to finish my classes to graduate in June!]

I am feeling like I would be doing a lot better if my ankle was wrapped tightly and in a "boot" than trying to taddle around with crutches.

What can I expect? How long will I be on these dang crutches? Any quesses?
