Severs disease

Hi, My 10-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Severs disease by a podiatrist yesterday, and I would like to obtain any information I can. A couple of weeks ago, our general practitioner diagnosed a heel spur (which my husband and several members of his family have). The podiatrist has recommended a visit to a chiropractor and thick gel heel cushions which have been ordered. She also noticed my daughter's right leg is about 1cm longer than her left.
I have been taking my daughter to different doctors for many years (since she was about four), and they all told me she basically had growing pains. I am afraid. She does grow very fast (she is about 5'6" and has been wearing ladies' shoes for a couple of years), but I am concerned she may suffer long-term side-effects and pain because the problem was mis-diagnosed. She has suffered a similar problem with her knee (I'm not sure of the name), but she has a large lump on the bottom of her knee which causes severe pain with excess sport (something to do with the muscle being stronger than the bone).
Any information you could provide me with would be greatfully received. Thankyou for your website.
