Re: Sweaty Feet and Odor

Like many teenager boys, he probably has excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis. The odor is due to bacteria on the skin breaking down the fatty acids in the sweat which cause the odor. Depending on the severity, differing strengths of anti-perspirants are used. A good over the counter product is Certain-Dri used once daily. I also recommend socks made with Cool Max rather than just cotton. The shoes should be sprayed with a disinfectant and preferably rotated in use on an every other day basis. No shoe should be made out of all man made material.

Anti fungals such as Tinactin woould be of little help for this problem.

If you continue to have problems, see a podiatrist.
