I went to my podiatrist last week for a bone spur on the back of my heel. I have tried all of the conservative care treatments, but to no avail. The doctor told me to continue for another month or so and if that doesn't seem to relieve the pain, then he may need to cut the spur out. He referred to this as Haglund's Deformity. He also said that they would have to detach the Achilles tendon in order to get to the spur. He mentioned the recovery time would be anywhere from 6 months to a year. I work at a tourist attraction where I am on my feet (standing & walking) at least 85 - 90% of the time. How long could I expect to be off from work in order for this to heal properly?
