callus

I have two spots, one on the bottom of each foot, that resemble long lines. These lines of hard skin begin at the top of my feet located right underneath my toes (closer to my big and second toe)and extend about one and one half inch downward. I once heard that this could be pinch calluses. Again, it is just like a line of hard skin, located the same place on both feet. I would like your expert opinion as to what you think this may be? If they are pinch calluses, did I get this just because of the way my foot is made or why? Thank you very much for addressing my questions and providing me with any ideas you may have as to how to get rid of this.
