big toe problem

hello, on each of my feet the big toe points inward, towards the other toes to the point where they rest underneath the 2nd toe (the toe equivalent to the pointer finger). also, each big toe joint (at the connection to the foot) is spaced more wide from the other toes than what i observe on many other feet. i feel that this may be the result of quickly growing feet in my youth and the resulting tight shoes that i would have been wearing. what sort of risk is involved in corrective surgery? this problem doesnt hurt my ability to function much at all (aside from some minor discofort) but im wondering if the situation will worsen if i do not seek treatment. thanks for your time.
