The shots are something that European doctors seem more likely to do. Yes, it is likely, your walking on the fracture did not help matters. If you have what is commonly called a Jones fracture, then surgery may very well be indicated. Sometimes I will try a bone stimulator first if the patient is not in a great deal of pain or not a candidate for surgery. Also an avulsion fracture at the base of the 5th metatarsal may develop a non union as well and require surgery down the line. These can take a good while to heal.
