Numb leg bruise due to car accident

I was in a very bad car accident 5 days ago and I got a bruise much larger than a softball on my shin that is raised and swelled. I can put weight on my leg but I've noticed that the bruised area is completely numb and my leg throbs after I've walked around lot. Is it normal for just a bruise to be numb?
