Stiches

I sustained a deep cut long (shape of a 'C') on the bottom ball of my foot. I have a few dissolvable stiches inside and 12 stiches on the outside. How long should the stiches remain in the bottom of my foot? The ER doctor told me 10 days I could have them removed and start walking, another doctor has told me 20 days, I am not sure who to believe? Could you help me please, I would like to get back to my normal routine.
