Heel and foot pain as a result of sprained ankle!

I sprained my left ankle and obviously damaged some ligaments some 4-5 months ago. I didn't go to the doctor nor give myself sufficient time to heal. I'm and avid basketball player and was back on the court too soon. My left ankle is still 'big' and I developed pain in my right arch as a result of walking funny i imagine. This pain has since moved to both of my heels. I wake up in pain, driving for too long is painful, sitting in my chair at work all day is painful. I can still play ball, at my full capacity, but the price is immense pain after playing. I do plan to go to an Podiatry clinic, but what is this injury and it there anything I can do to cure/ease the pain?
