torn ligaments

I've had pain in my right heel for months,went to my foot doctor,and he said i have torn ligaments. He gave me a shot in my heel,and it did nothing for me. So now i'm very scared to go back.Do you think i can heal the torn ligaments myself,because i'm very scared to go back to my doctors to get another shot.
