Re: Navicular chip fracture

A fracture of the navicular can be several things. Sometimes there is an accesory navicular that can fracture from the main body. Generally speaking it will then need to be removed. As far as a "chip" fracture is treated, I would suggest you limit your weight bearing to tolerance and try to keep it iced and elevated as much as possible. If you are not making progress over a period of time, then surgery might be indicated. I can't really tell without seeing your foot and an X-ray. You probably should write down your questions before seeing your doctor.
