Dislocated Toe after Bunion Surgery

I had a Brostrum Repair and a bunionectomy on my right foot. With weeks after my surgery, my great toe dislocted. My Dr. manipulated it back into place and splinted it. Within a week of the splint coming off, it dislocated again. I have been told that I will need surgery to fix the situation and am wondering what to expect as far as the procedure. Thanks.
