Toe & foot numbness for months

Several months back, I noticed my pinky toe was slightly numb. I had just arrived at the gym from a long warehouse work-day (walking and lifting objects often), and took off my shoe to notice I had no feeling in my right pinky toe. The problem is it hasn't gotten any better, but it also hasn't gotten much worse in a several month period (though it has spread just a bit into the foot, right below the pinky toe). I was thinking this could have been caused by either a pinched nerve or excessive friction since I'm always wearing shoes (steel-toe). Any ideas on what caused this and/or how to relieve this issue? Thanks in advance!
