Achilles tendonitis

Immobilization in a cast brace is an accepted treatment for this problem. One must accept the fact that it is not a substitute for rest. Neither is a fiberglass cast. You need to ask yourself if it feel better when you stay off of it (like the weekends) and if so, can you afford to take time off? The more you are on it, the more you will swell. We do not have a cure for gravity. If you must continue to work, ask your doctor about physical therapy (muscle stim, whirlpool etc.) or even at lunch time, elevate and use an ice pack.

Good luck.
