toe nail

about two months ago my big left toe nail started turning yellow, i went to the dr, he said it was a fungus, not too many options. a couple of days ago, i was swimming and the nail came loose, today i took a bath and it fell off. what will happen next ? will the nail grow back ? will it be yellow again ? is there something i should do to the toe area now that the nail fell off ?
