toe, ankle stiffness & leg pain

Please help me. About 6 months ago I had a pedicure. My toe next to my big toe was cut incorrectly at the side(punctured). It became slighly infected but I treated it myself. Two to 3 months later, I had pain & tenderness. My podiatrist removed ingrown portion which was calloused. Burning pain continued in the bottom of my foot along with stiffness in my ankle. Most recently I had an MRI done in which everything looks perfect. However, my foot is still killing me. The pain comes and goes but is more present than before. Could an infection be present even though the MRI was clean?
