Big toe swollen

I have an appt with a podiatrist next week, but wanted to know if you had any idea what would cause the pad of my big toe to be constantly swollen, red, warm to touch, with burning feeling? The second toe on same foot seems to becoming stiff and misshapen also. There is no visible signs of injury. The only time I feel pain is when I am kneeling down and toes are being bent backwards---then OUCH!! I am 50 years old, with a history of OA and Plantar fibromas.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The HealWell Night splint is designed to comfortably position the foot in a controlled amount of dorsiflexion to provide a gentle stretch to the plantar fascia and Achilles Tendon. This gentle stretch helps reduce the muscle contracture, inflammation and associated pain. It has also been clinically proven to reduce symptoms of plantar fasciitis.
