On March 26, 2003, I had hammertoe sugery. My podiatrist fused my big toe joint (with permanent screw), and did tendon transfers in the 2nd and 5th digit toes (had pins in all three toes, but were removed after 3 weeks). The swelling has subsided in the smaller toes, but 10 months later, the big toe is still swollen. My doctor said the swelling could last up to a year or more, or may never go away!!
1) Is it reasonable to assume that the swelling will go down after 18 months?
2) I had the surgery when I was 18, and I may still grow...Will this have an impact on my feet? (doctor said my growth plates were fused in feet) So even if I did grow taller, would my feet be affected at 19 years old?
Thank you. I'd appreciate a detailed response!
