5th Metatarsal

I broke and slightly dsiplaced the 5th Metatarsal on December 20, 2003. I was in a walking cast for 4 weeks, then a boot for 3 more. I went back to the Dr today and it still is not healed. It is not a Jones Fracture. The Dr. said I can wear tennis shoes now, and can bicycle. I'm wondering why this bone is not healing faster. What is the normal healing process? I am 38 and very healthy and active. She said I won't be able to resume running or aerobics for 5 months. Is this true? The foot only hurts slightly, probably where the bone still is not healed. I can bear wear, but have been trying to walk mostly on the heal and other side of the foot. Please discuss the healing process and time period for resuming activities lik e running and step aerobics. Can I do Pilates and Yoga??? Thank You in Advance
