Did you get any response as I have the same problem although incurred through Rugby ?

: My big toenail has been gone for 6 yrs now. It endured a stomping trauma in basketball, fell off, and never came back. A little nail tries to grow, but flakes off...I was wondering if there was any remedy to my situation or if some kind of cosmetic surgery was available. Thanks.
