knots on soles outside of instep

If you rest your ankle on your knee and place your thumb running down the middle of the sole of your foot and stop it at the instep position, approximately the very middle of the sole, for me, you'd feel a spherical knot. To my knowledge this has never been there before and does not belong there according to any diagrams I have seen of foot skeletals. There's one on each foot but the one on the left food has become larger. To press your thumb lightly over this knots evokes mild pain. To press harder, the pain increases uncomfortably. What is it?

The proprietary gel also provides extra protective padding to help comfort the pain caused by metatarsal soreness. May be used for relieving the burning sensation under the metatarsal heads, calluses and tarsal fat pads.
