In general ligaments can heal if they are in good position and splinted long enough. If there is continued motion while healing is trying to occur, then it might be less than optimal.

I am not clear on what ligament you tore and why it was reinjured. Your doctor is probably the best one to answer the question. If you feel it necessary get a copy of your MRI and get another opinion.
