I would first x-ray your foot to see if the growth plates are closed. Then I would have a lengthy discussion with you and a parent(s) about the post op concerns from this type of surgery. I tell all my patients that foot surgery is inconvenient. After outlining all the important considerations, I tell the patients it is up to them to decide if the short term inconvenience is worth the long term benefit.

You should ask your doctor these questions.
