Child jumped off couch;heel hurting

My 10 y/o jumped off the arm of the couch, and her heel is hurting. The bottom of the heel hurts, and up the outside to below the ankle bone. This happened Monday evening. Now it is Tuesday night, and while the pain has decreased, she still cannot bear weight on it. She is able to get around, in fact was running with her friends tonight, by putting her weight on her toes.

There is no swelling or bruising. We did apply ice last night, and she is sleeping with it elevated.

If the pain continues to lessen, does she need to see an MD? How long should it take for a minor injury to heal? For example, even if it is improving, do I take her to the MD after 3-4 days?

Thank you.

A silicone insert on the back of the Achillotrain leaves tendon pressure-free and provides intermittent compression for the reduction of swelling and edema.
