Inflamed Tarsals

I just returned to work as a Nurses Aid after a year break. After a week of work I find that I have an inflamation directly over the tarsals...NOT the metatarsals.
On the left foot it is very minor, but on the right foot it is quite obvious...red, tender, obviously swollen and when I place a finger on the site and flex my toes I can feel "squeaking".
I applied ice to it for about 220 minutes, but it did not improve a lot.
