Hello, I've tried extensively to search online for ideas about this, but have had no luck. When I was 11-12 years of age, my ankles started to make a cracking noise every step I took--the same sound that happens when you "crack" your knuckles. We went to a couple doctors, but they all agreed that it appeared to be "just part of growing up" and gave me ankle excercizes. 10 years later, my ankle still make that noise, doctors have no idea why, and X-rays show my ankle joints to be normal. It is intensified by moist weather and long periods of inactivity. In addition to this, my ankle will often unexpectedly roll when I am walking, no matter how smooth or rough the terrain. Most of the time none of this hurts, but it is inconvenient and sometimes embarassing. Do I just have weak ankles, or is there something I can to reduce these occurances? Thanks for your input.
