Whether their "flatfooted" appearance is pathological or is unknown. The best way to answer your question is to have them examined by a podiatrist who sees children.

As far as the shoes go, I would not want to pigeon hole you into a brand only. I think New Balance makes a decent shoe, probably better than Target or Walmart's brands which are usually man made (not good) materials.
