Numb "little" toe

For the past few months, my left little toe has been numb. No pain or anything else associated with it, I can just tell that it feels funny when I walk barefooted. The right side is fine. I did have surgery to remove a piece of bone in the little toe a long time ago (maybe 10 years or so). I think it was because of a hammer toe but this numbness has just been over the past few months. Husband is bugging me to get it looked at but to me it doesn't sound like anything serious? If you agree w/ him then I'll give in and have it checked out...Thanks for your help!!!
