Planter's Fibroma

Hi my name is Stephanie. I have a bump on my foot which hurts pretty bad. I went to a foot doctor and I was told I have a Planters Fibroma. They told me to ice it daily and were sneaker which I have been doing. It does not seem to be getting better. I was told the next step is a cortizone shot which I know will hurt. After that if it still hurts I have to get it removed. Should I just get it removed instead of getting the shot. Also I was told I would get hammertoes. I don't want hammertoes. What is the percentage of someone getting hammertoes after the surgery and are there any other side effects. Thank you for your timme.
