pain on top of foot

I have acute pain on the top of my foot an inch below the bottom of my toes, in the space between the first two bones. I now cannot put any pressure on that foot at all, except to walk on the outside of my foot. Very painful to even put a shoe on. Not swollen, just very sharp pain.
