Achilles tendon rupture, late diagnosis

My 36 year old son played soccer this summer. When his injury occurred(2 months ago)he did not go for evaluation. Finally he did this past week. A partial or complete rupture, we are going for an MRI. Is surgery,(a tendon transplant), the only solution to this at this time? He does not have insurance so this is a major problem, but one we could survive. Is there another treatment plan he could do?
