Please help...7 year old with horizontal crack on toe nail

Hello everyone..My seven year old daughter has a horizontal crack at the base of her toenail(where it grows out). Does anyone know what can cause this? I would have chalked it up to a kid just being rough on her body...but she has the same thing on one of her fingernails. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
