I had surgery on my ankle a little over 3 weeks ago (Complete tear of the ATFL -reattached), 2 bone spurs removed, a slight bone fracture on the inside of my ankle, and a bone chip and tissue that were wedged and wrapped around a nerve that they had to carefully fix)- I am now in my 2nd cast (I was examined yesterday by my Podiatrist and he felt another cast was necessary for 2-3 more weeks w/ NO WEIGHT BEARING). I went to the PT today to see about exercises to keep the Muscle Atrophy in my upper leg minimal (he measured and I have lost 4 inches already).
Do you know of any good exercises to help with this? Also, just as a 2nd opinion (I know you don't know for sure w/o examining me)- is 5 weeks in a cast w/ no weight bearing a normal thing? I am just terrified of the atrophy and loss of range of motion.
