swelling after injury

Turned my ankle in August soft tissue damage? Doc did not due mri til 2 months later after being in a cast. My ankle still swells huge when I sit or walk they put me in compression sock and it kills me but still swells, calf swells too..........had ultra sound to check for Dvt it was neg and did D-Dimer and it was neg,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, can this swelling really be due to the tissue injury? This is december is this a vein issue? I am freaking out but everyone says this is from the injury.........all I know is it looks bad feels bad and I need some direction here I don't want anything over looked that could be dangerous!! Please help.....oh yea when they did the mri all it showed was bruising and swelling?
