I would be untruthful if I told you every patient who has had a bunion surgery wears orthotics religiously afterwards. It is in our nature to slack off if we do not perceive the need.

I can't say I can give you a reference that documents this and has the research to back it up.

Having said all that, theoretically, it might be a correct statement for some particular bunion deformities.

I am sorry I can't give you a definitive answer.
