Pain on side of right foot- opposite side across from arch

I have a pain on the side of my right foot, after tripping over a box. (Let's say I'm not graceful!)
It's not on the side with my arch, it's the opposite side across from the arch. It has been hurting for weeks. It only hurts when I walk ,put pressure, or touch the side of my foot. It does not seem to get better. It hurts more everyday. I made an appt. with a my Dr. for next week, but is there really anything on that side of the foot that really matters? I feel like a baby going in saying my foot hurts! I've tried wraps, gel cushions and a lot of tylenol. Any ideas?
