Silastic implant - 1st MTP joint

I had a silastic implant of my 1st MTP joint back in July 2005 and thought my problems would have been resolved by having this procedure. However I am not satisfied at all with the results and indeed am having more pain now than pre-op! I have returned to my Consultant who said there is nothing he can do and I will just have to live with the pain and discomfort. I am now seeing a podiatrist who cannot believe I had an implant as I am only 35!! I am very, very upset by the whole situation and was just wondering if anyone else had had the same problems. I had the implant because of arthritis in my joint and believed that I would regain movement and be pain-free. This is not so at all and I am in constant pain and unable to buy new shoes as none seem to fit me properly. Help!! Help!!
