burning/icy feeling in both heels

Hi, over the last three months or so I've had a strange feeling in both heels, sometimes spreading over the whole sole of the feet, which could either be described as burning or icy coldness. Rubbing my heels hard against a carpet can alleviate it a little. Any idea what this could be? Thanks
