Torn foot ligaments

I slipped on a wooden staircase and twisted my foot. I went to see a family physician and he took x-rays and found nothing broken and concluded I had some torn ligaments in my foot( he didnt say where but the pain is down the side outside bone of my foot to my ankle). he said wear tennie shoes for 2 weeks, no exercise for 3 weeks and I should be fine. Well its been 2 weeks and the pain is not any better and seem sto be worse from walking on it constantly. I have tingling and numbling pain and am putting so much pressure on the inside of my foot to avioid it as well as the other foot.I asked him if it should be in a brace or wrapped and he said no.Should I be on crutches? I want to do whatever is necessary to get the healing process underway.

Any insite you could give me would be appreciated

A layer of gel combined with a foot cover to help protect metatarsals and toes from friction and pressure. It also ideal for cushioning the ball of foot and provides warmth for people suffering from arthritis or poor circulation to the toes.
