scar tissue in pinky toe

For a couple of years now I have had a lump in my pinky toe. First I was told it was a wart, then I was told it was scar tissue. I beleive it is scar tissue. It kind of goes through stages of inflamation but the last week it has really been hurting nonstop and seems bigger in size. I was told by the Dr. who diagnosed it as scar tissue that I would need surgury to remove it and I wouldn't be able to walk on that foot for several weeks and that there was no guarantee it wouldn't come back. Therefore he didn't recommend surgury for it. Is there anything I do to relieve the discomfort?
Please help!

An area of softer silicone is incoporated on the medial side of the cushion, the area most sensitive to plantar faciitis pain. Sold in pairs.
