It is generally regarded as a bony enlargement of the posterior superior aspect of the calcaneus. This rubs against the Achilles tendon and into a shoe causing problems. Sometimes it is referred to as a pump bump. Treatment can include wearing shoes without a back, padding and surgery. Hope this helps.
