Heel and back pain

I've been suffering heel pain for a couple of years on the lateral plantar aspect of my left foot after jumping from a roof.

Also, intermitent sharp pain on the right posterior side of my neck

Can you explain how orthotics may be used for the symptoms that I;'ve outlined above (as i noticed that many Podiatrists advertise that orthotics can minimise neck pain).
