swollen extremely painful, throbbing, numbing second toe

I had an Austin bunionectomy done on my both feet on Friday by Sunday my toes on my right foot were bruising terribly and swollen. I called the doctor Monday morning and was told to come in. When I went in I was told that the bruising was normal. Mind you my left foot has no bruising. The right foot the second thru the fourth toe look horrible. Today they are blood red. I had stopped taking my pain medication as of Sunday but had to start taking it again Monday just because of the second toes pain. It feels like someone has hit it with a hammer. There is constant pain. It feels like there is a rubber band around it and walking on the foot doesn't hurt the big toe much it's the second toe that is causing me the most pain. Just the thought of getting up on it makes me cringe. My doctor seems to think that this is normal. I am worried. Should I be? I am doing my toe exercises but doing it on that foot causes great pain to that toe.

Lined with soft fabric on both sides, this ~2mm thick SiliposŪ proprietary gel pad is an excellent cushion to help relieve the burning sensation and discomfort of the five metatarsal heads of the foot (the ball-of-foot) by protecting the ball of foot from repeated friction and abrasion with the shoes.
