retrocalcaneal bursitis

How long does bursitis take to heal? As of tomorrow(Thursday), I've been in my cam walker for 4 weeks and that's how long my Dr. really wanted me in it, but I had her push the time out(I'm scared of surgery). Anyway the achilles area and the area above the haglund's is still swollen. I guess that doesn't sound too good?
